The Fly's Eye on The Tab S 8.4

I have recently had some troubles with my Nexus 7. I noticed lag spikes, a lack of battery life and poor internet connection. All of these things were really getting in the way of my productivity and became really annoying once they were occuring more frequently. Eventually my Nexus became almost unusable. The time had come for me to go hunting for tablets.
It wasn't long before I found out about the Nexus 9, the latest addition to the Nexus family. It looked like a very powerful tablet and was great for me conisdering the minimal learning curve. However, the 4:3 aspect ratio and strange absense from shops really put me off. I was once again on the hunt for an alternative.
I didn't know where to begin. The Nexus 9 was a great tablet, but I wanted to find something even better. I decided the best place to look was comparison videos so that I could get direct competition. Of all of the long videos I watched, it was approximately the fourtieth that really caught my eye. That tablet was none other than the Tab S 8.4.
When I researched the tablet, features just seemed to jump out at me. The Super AMOLED display, the fingerprint scanner, the processing power and  that it was cheaper were just a few things that I really liked. I knew the Tab S 8.4 was the tablet that I was looking for, the features were perfect for my needs. With a bit of haggling, I managed to buy the Tab S from JB HIFI for $389! Of course, the rush of exitement from buying a new tablet was hitting me again and I could not help but unbox it and set it up, even in the car!

My new Tab S 8.4 left me completely speechless. I couldn't believe that something so thin and light could have so much power and so many capabilities. Since my first glance at the amazing screen, I couldn't look at any other display. My Nexus 7 seemed like an absolute blur of red blue and green pixels and all the colours seemed dull and grey.I found that fingerprint scanner was accurate and fast. Although the rest of my family thought was hard to use. I loved the ability to use WiFI Direct (a connection similar to bluetooth) to send documents and pictures and also use SideSync (Samsung's remote phone access application) with my dad's Galaxy S5. I did notice that the speakers didn't really pack a punch though.

 The Tab S is one killer of a tablet. It features 3GB of RAM and two quad-core processors, one of them is 1.3GHz and the other is 1.9GHz. They work together as an octo-core processor. The colour rich Super AMOLED display has a pixel density of 2160 x 1600 and can deliver stunning hi-res videos. The tablet has  a 4900mah battery. The rear facing camera can shoot 8MP photos with flash, while the front facing camera is 2.1MP. Speaking of photos, the Tab S features microSD expansion, so there will be plenty of storage. The Tab S runs Touchwiz, Samsung's skin over Android 4.4.2 It allows for many new customisation features and also a great word processing package. The tablet is only 6.6mm thin and weighs 294 grams and while it is made completely out of plastic, has a great feel in the hand. There is also an IR blaster on the tablet in case you want to control your TV.
In conclusion, I would say that the Tab S 8.4 is one of the best tablets of 2014. The AMOLED display shows amazing colours at a high resolution. It is so thin and light that you will barely notice it when you hold it. I would recomend the Tab S 8.4 to anyone looking for laptop quality performance and a cinema quality viewing experience at a great price.
